June 1987 ....i think I could play 2 tunes on the pipe chanter ..just ..it certainly was a whirlwind year going from not knowing a note of music in February to slowly getting tunes under my belt within a year or two .

A little word about snowballs and tea cakes ...no visit to Scotland was complete unless Aunty phid put what's known as a "piece" together to come home on the train with back to Shropshire .

After all this heat and searing temperatures in deepest shropshire ...its been nice we've had a day of rain....and good opportunity to have a cosy night in on the practice chanter to brush up old tunes and learn new tunes .

Today I headed over to Stoke on trent to play with the black watch association pipeband at a function .

As young lad I was enthralled with scotland on my many holidays to penicuick to see my lovely aunty phid and uncle jock and family . Here I am sat on a Cannon in 1988 at Edinburgh Castle .
