A bit about me…..
Andy has the experience and expertise to make your event memorable…
Just to Introduce myself. I'm a traditional piper who has played with both bands and at solo functions since the age of twelve; with a large repertoire of tunes . Born and bred in Shropshire, I’m very much a country lad at heart. ...
My lovely aunt Phid married a Scotsman during ww2 - a Royal scot 1st of foot piper. My parents would take me on holidays to see her and Uncle Jock. They lived in Penicuick, near Edinburgh and took me to the Tattoo aged nine, following which I developed a deep love of the pipes.
Fast forward to when I started high school. My Dad asked me if I wanted to play an instrument, like other children did. I told him that I wanted to be in a pipe band. Like my Uncle Jock. Nothing else would do - I was hooked. After contacting a local pipe band, 30 miles away in Crewe, my dream came true. Although I had a tough tutor in Ken Rowley ( an ex K.O.S.B piper) who really didn't suffer fools very easily; I stuck with it . Travelling to Crewe twice weekly by train, all the time encouraged by my biggest fans - my parents.
Mastery doesn't come easy for any piper or drummer. It takes hard practice, time and the support of too many people to mention. So, here I am, all these years later, still playing. Still perfecting my skill. Still loving the pipes. As such, I’d be honoured to play at your chosen event.
