Farewell for Ian

Today I was piping a final farewell for Ian "haggis “of Ditherington, at Shrewsbury crematorium. Ian was the gentlemen I played for recently when he was very poorly .

Wearing his favourite tartan The Black watch in full no1s, I played “My Home and Mist covered mountains of home” upon his arrival . As the mourners exited, I played “Heilan laddie” and “Scotland the Brave”. These were two of his favourite tunes.

And by request by a family member, in the spur of the moment, “Amazing Grace” was played on the lawn . I'm sure Ian would have enjoyed the tunes .

I'm both honoured and proud to play my part in his send-off. In closing, a big thank you to all of the funeral directors I work with, to help someone's final farewell go so smoothly. The staff at Shrewsbury Crem always look after me extremely well.

Goodnight Ian
